Aahaar

AAHAAR is the flagship intervention of Govt. of Odisha, aimed to provide food at an affordable cost to the urban poor. It was launched on 1st April 2015 on the auspicious day of Utkal Divas by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha to serve hot cooked meals i.e., Rice and Dalma with Pickle at a subsidized rate of Rupees five only per meal to the needy people coming to urban areas for different purposes.Odisha State Aahaar Society (OSAS) formed under H&UD Dept., of Govt. of Odisha is the nodal agency to implement Aahaar program in the State. A dedicated PMU has been set up by the Dept. for monitoring of the programme in the entire state. Aahaar Societies are formed and registered at district and city levels for effective implementation of the programme. The fund required for the programme is met through CMRF along with the fund received from CSR and donations from individuals and institutions.

The programme employs well designed system by integrating a variety of activities for cooking, transportation and serving of meals. Aahaar outlets are furnished with inclusive infrastructure facilities. All the Aahaar outlets received ISO 9001:2015 certification for providing quality and standard services to the beneficiaries. Further, all the AAHAAR outlets & central kitchens are Geo-Tagged for easier reachability of the beneficiaries to the premises.Operation and management (O&M) of all the Aahaar outlets have been handed over to the Mission Shakti SHGs for which they are getting supervision charges on monthly basis.
